I designed and developed a comprehensive multilingual website for a German author to showcase her fantasy novel series. The platform serves as a central hub for readers to explore the story's universe through immersive, custom-coded features. Challenges

The primary technical hurdle involved managing a multilingual architecture that required a robust routing and content structure to ensure seamless language switching across the site. I had to ensure that the rich narrative content remained organized and accessible without losing the user's place when toggling between German and English. Additionally, I focused on optimizing the delivery of high-resolution map assets to ensure they loaded quickly and remained crisp across all device sizes without impacting overall site performance.

Learnings

Building this platform taught me how to effectively translate a rich, narrative-heavy world into a functional digital product without overwhelming the user interface. I gained significant experience in balancing aesthetic storytelling with technical performance, specifically in how to present detailed world-building assets in a responsive way. Furthermore, working closely with an international client highlighted the importance of clear communication and adaptable design systems when building products for a global audience with specific cultural and linguistic requirements.
